Your picture does not reveal what is on D--maybe nothing?

What was your intent by having D on the SSD? What did you hope to accomplish?

You can easily do away with D and give that space to C, but we need to understand your motivations. Maybe you had a good reason for D, although I can't imagine what it would be if all data is on the 320 GB external.

    What's on D?

You could get rid of System Reserved, but at this point there's no real point to doing that. As previously explained, the best time to avoid System Reserved is before you install Windows.
No intent, the pc tech who came to service the lap installed and created it.

There is none data, apps on D, it's empty.

At this stage as posted earlier can I merge C and D, will I gain some benefits and hopefully no disk errors after merging?

Does any windows service needs tweaking for SSD?

How do I check for Trim?

    Thanks.

how to check trim tutorial above.

    Leave Windows services alone.

Confirm defragmentation is turned off for the SSD.

    Confirm alignment is OK.

If nothing is on D, you can delete it in Windows Disk Management. After that deletion, you can then extend C to take up the rest of the drive. This is NOT a merge. Delete D, then extend C.

    Hi,
Yea Net frame work 4.5.2.. seems to be Important
I have 1 program that needs this weird type of frame work "CorelDraw x6" mostly for it's internet content of which I don't even use but a lot of programs are using .net to deliver internet content.

A couple of the Optional you show might take care of the yellow flag you were referring to
But out of the Optional updates I would load these in green,
    Attachment 359142

Of course Skype and Silverlight is completely up to you,
Don't bother Hiding Silverlight it just shows back up so hiding it really accomplishes nothing
The only company/ s that uses Silverlight is M$ for it's help videos and I believe Netflix to stream content.

Skype is self explanatory you either use it or not of which I don't so I don't load anything Skype related personally.

I thought this was a good example of how to install without the 100mb system reserved partition during install,
    SSD installation?

Yea I agree the D partition doesn't make much sense to me either I do limit space on C but I leave the remainder as Unallocated so I can increase C if necessary later.
    Attachment 359144
Thanks again installed the 4 optional updates that you marked, O2 Micro was the Base Device, so now no more see the usb icon.

    Shall check for trim.

    Defrag is turned off.

    How do I confirm alignment?

After deleting D, is it simple to extend C and should CHDSK be run later?

    Thanks.

Re alignment: did you read post 43?

Yes, it's simple to extend C.

    No, I wouldn't run checkdisk.

I would run an SSD benchmark to confirm my SSD was performing as expected.

It will also confirm alignment as previously mentioned in this thread post 27.

Get the AS SSD benchmark here:

From some of the reading back when I first installed my SSD, I heard the command line might not show whether TRIM is actually performed.

    Use Trimcheck to verify TRIM:
    Information - https://github.com/CyberShadow/trimcheck
    Download - Index of /trimcheck

"Place this program file on the same drive you'd like to test TRIM on, and run it. Administrator privileges and at least 64MB free disk space will be required."

You will have to run the exe twice, second time a couple of minutes after the first time. Been some time since I ran it, should have the instructions built in.
