Leave Windows services alone.

Confirm defragmentation is turned off for the SSD.

Confirm alignment is OK.

If nothing is on D, you can delete it in Windows Disk Management. After that deletion, you can then extend C to take up the rest of the drive. This is NOT a merge. Delete D, then extend C.

Of course Skype and Silverlight is completely up to you,
Don't bother Hiding Silverlight it just shows back up so hiding it really accomplishes nothing
The only company/ s that uses Silverlight is M$ for it's help videos and I believe Netflix to stream content.

Skype is self explanatory you either use it or not of which I don't so I don't load anything Skype related personally.

Yea I agree the D partition doesn't make much sense to me either I do limit space on C but I leave the remainder as Unallocated so I can increase C if necessary later.

No, I wouldn't run checkdisk.

I would run an SSD benchmark to confirm my SSD was performing as expected.

It will also confirm alignment as previously mentioned in this thread post 27.

I read post 43, and posted the results of diskpart, offset was 1024.

From some of the reading back when I first installed my SSD, I heard the command line might not show whether TRIM is actually performed.

Use Trimcheck to verify TRIM:

"Place this program file on the same drive you'd like to test TRIM on, and run it. Administrator privileges and at least 64MB free disk space will be required."

You will have to run the exe twice, second time a couple of minutes after the first time. Been some time since I ran it, should have the instructions built in.
