Advice on a Gaming Laptop

Hi guys i'm helping a friend out who lives in Canada. She doesn't know much about laptops but i'm afraid my knowledge on laptops is not very good either.

This is the first option

Is the cpu and the gpu good in that one?

this has just about everything the same except the video card which is a GT 260M.

This comes again with a GT 240M but with a quad CPU now.

Firstly is it worth getting a quad cpu if its 500 mhz lower then the dual core one?

The other thing, is there a huge difference in the performance between the GT 240M and the GT 260M?

If you guys could recommend anything else or one of these that would be awesome!

Budget around $1000

Gaming laptop's are useless. Crysis will crush them on high, which is the only option to play unless you can go higher. Build a new pc and spend what you save on laptops on new games. The best laptop chipset is either a 280m or one of ATI's - and that isn't saying much, a desktop 4890 is vastly better. Dual core is best unless you get a quad core with a high clock like a Phenom 955 @ 3.2GHz - equal to an E8500 in dual core games.

I understand that desktop are far better but she doesn't want a desktop. I assume she will be taking the laptop around a lot but she likes to game. One thing i didn't mention was that the budget was around $1000 dollars give or take a hundred.

What games does she play? New directx10 and 11 will be out if you want to play them the way they are supposed to play. Try alienware too. If not, go for the first option with a GTX260m.

This is $1052 which is a little bit over BUT there is no taxes on the purchase but of course the shipping still apllies

The reason I recommended this one over the ASUS and others above is that it is quite a bit more powerful...holds a ton of space...and the HD4650 is nothing to shake at

Browse around IBUYPOWER and play with their build configurator...you will probably find one at a better price than that
