How to tell my SSD speed - should I upgrade mobos?

Never mind the benchmark---if you can't tell the difference and aren't impressed, get rid of the SSDs.

If you are impressed, the benchmarks don't much matter.

The access time is good.

The alignment is good.

The overall score is relatively low, but I don't know what you should realistically expect on that hardware.

Here's a benchmark of my old Intel 320 series SSD on a socket 1155 motherboard with 3.0 ports. Not a lot different from yours. I was impressed when I bought it and can't tell the difference with the new Crucial SSD I bought to replace it.

Alright, not all BIOS has that option (AHCI), depending on age/features quality etc. However, you might have RAID mode, that's a subset of AHCI and supports the same features.

If your mobo doesn't have SATA III (6 Gbps) ports, I doubt you will get better results. Perhaps a little bump to 250's sequential read/write.

- Download and install windows 7 SATA raid drivers from your motherboard support page.
- change BIOS SATA mode to RAID (if can't boot, change it back)
- run AS SSD, post here

Friends have valid arguments by the way. It may not change the conceived speed at all. What makes the SSD a beast is the access times and 4K read/write.

I can change between the two, no problems here. And default is English.

Yeah my mobo only has SATA II, but I would still like to try and run it in RAID/ACHI mode to get some more speed.

I've downloaded the ACHI/RAID driver from asus for my mobo, but need help installing it. Anyone have a walk through or now what I'm supposed to do with this asus zipped file?

The zip is probably pre-install drivers.
