Run the Seagate USB External drive diagnostics followed by a full Disk Check.

This will tell you if the drive is salvageable.

If so I'd use Seatools or Diskpart Clean All Command to Secure Erase wipe the drive then run a full format.

The drive should not be Active. Partition - Mark as Inactive - Windows 7 Forums

You need to know the drives exact condition. RAW often means ruined. Run the tests now.

Just an hour ago returned to station after a three day 920kms (570 miles) drive. My first instinct was to check what happened in this thread.

I am happy to note the happy ending.

I hope as GoKay suggested you would have backed up all your files and would have run Seatools for Windows also to check the status of the drive as suggested by gregrocker.

Your drive is no longer RAW and is accessible. So if the short and long tests passes you need not worry about the drive. All the same backup your files and give it a zerowipe and format it as suggested by greg before you start using it.

And remember always to back up all your important data and that data should always be available on two media so that you need not panic if one fails.
