Is it worth upgrading to 64bit OS with 2gb ram?

To be honest Chandra if it were me I would add the extra RAM it sorta gives the system a bit more "breathing" space. As for the bit versions well if your gear can support 64bit then that is a no brainer and you really need minimum 3GB for that anyway..

Yeah, I would upgrade to 4 GB of RAM even if I wanted to stay with 32-bit. You might see some improved speed.

But you might not ever notice the difference between 64 bit/4 GB RAM and 32 bit/4 GB RAM. You have to weigh that against the inconvenience of having to do a complete reinstallation of Windows and programs that would be required if you want to go to 64 bit. The performance differences are behind the scenes and you may not notice anything. I think 64 bit does have some security improvements as well.

Yes well I agree with both the others and is pretty much what I was hinting at.

4 GB or less, stay with 32 bit.

If you can raise to at least 8 then go with 64 Bit.

Right now you should just raise it to 4 GB, then post a shot of resource monitor, showing the memory tab.

After that we`ll advise you further.

In the meantime, see if the motherboard supports at least 8 GB of memory.

Hiyya Brian mate the machine is limited to 4GB and DDR2 at that Compaq Presario All-in-One CQ1-1030IN Desktop PC Product Specifications | HP® Support it is an all in one and I have no experience on updating the RAM but suspect it would be a bit (no pun LOL!!) like upgrading a laptop.

Should be very easy then. Everything should be accessible from the back.

Worked on quite a few HP all in ones, very easy to do.
