    Remove the printer if it is plugged in, uninstall any printer software and try Jimanji's method once again. After restart, run CCleaner and scan for registry.

    Install printer as usual and see if it will work.

    I did that. Still getting nowhere. At this point, I feel that I would be better off reinstalling my OS or getting my laptop serviced from a professional.

    You could try a Repair Install. Follow the directions in the link below.

    seems like my product is unsupported for the repair because my Windows 7 came pre-installed.
