No Start Condition - plus BIOS freeze

    You haven't tried an external keyboard yet, right? No idea if they work during POST with laptops though.

    Well, it's definitely the keyboard. Some keys work, some don't.
    The ENTER key on the number pad works to start the laptop, and if I press that ENTER key on the "Edit Boot Options" screen it starts right up.

    So it's usable as long as you don't need to type anything that requires TYOASDFJK;ZBN or Esc or any F keys, or any direction keys!

    Still can't always get into BIOS, or if I do, move around there.

    Took it apart this morning to check all connections and get the P/N off the keyboard. Removed the 3V battery to check it too, which resets the BIOS - no change.

    New keyboard is $24 US with free shipping!

    There was another one for $18 but the numbers don't match exactly so I'm not going to chance it!

    An Update:

    The keyboard arrived yesterday (evidently it was on a slow boat from China - maybe literally!).

    Just finished installing it. All is good.
    All problems were the result of a failed keyboard.

    A good learning experience!
