Film Scanner and Printer Not Working

Today I thought I'd do some film scanning with my six week old Epson V600 scanner. It powered up with the green light but the usual blue light didn't come on. I checked connections and all was well. I put in a ticket to Epson.

Some thirty minutes later I needed to print a document on line, turned on my Epson WF-2530 printer and now it doesn't work. Both are connected to separate USB ports, one in back and the other in front since I ran out of ports in the back.

It's beginning to sound like a computer problem more than a device problem as both were working yesterday. Both devices are connected to my vista computer and I thought I'd ask you guys since there is no Vista forum anymore. I hate to lug both printer and scanner upstairs where my Window 7 computer is as I'd have to do all that set up and software load, etc. Any ideas where the problem may be?

First step should be to check that the USB Ports are working with other Devices ...

Seems you are not using a USB hub for connection ? ...

If you could also please Post the System Information for the Computer ... That would be of help ...

The ports used are the same I've used for months. Like most things that can be solved by a reboot it appears this was one of those instances. I restarted, walked outside about 20 minutes with my dog, came back in expecting the restart and all icons, etc on the screen. All I saw was a series of blue/green horizontal lines on the monitor. I thought for sure my HDD had went belly up so, I shut down for about a minute, restarted and both the printer and scanner was working again. No idea what caused the problems. Sometimes I think these updates from avast and Microsoft cause at least part of them.

Updates can cause problems , I always use a spare System for testing though I know that is not as possible for everyone to do ..

The main thing is you got the issue sorted ...

Yes, and all seems well so far today with the exception of getting Mail System Delivery notifications to people or places I never sent email but; that's another issue.
