Toshiba Laptop RAM Upgrade not recognized in windows

Hello and welcome stoes now mate when you order comments it is always a good idea to check the Toshiba site for compatibility and when you are checking you need to quote the PART NO: as in my pic as that denotes where it was made and where it was made for .

A good way of telling what you have in RAM and if it is even compatible with the other - is to use my ditty here and in PART B: you will see VERY detailed info on the RAM sticks see my pic - you will need to scroll down the screen to see it all. You might even see they are not really close in the specs

Personally I do not like mixing brands and one large stick is always better than two smaller ones because it will be the most matched in specs.

Using HW Info

PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download theright bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scrolldown to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see mypic. Now the section you want will be labelled - fpr example Asus boardsusually have "Nuvoton" and Gigabyte boards "ITE" in anycase the section you want will have Vbatt or VBAT in it (dead give away)
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for thatbut for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main lefthand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in andthen click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in theright hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds andother essential info that particular device. See pic for example. detailed specs on the RAM sticks when clicked on.

Testing RAM modules to see if they are functional or good cannot be done while Windows is running.

Yes mate I know it is quite and exact science and very specialised equipment required but the program I suggested will show up those differences in the sub readings of each stick done separately if possible. Well enough in my mind for anyone to see obvious problems.

I also think that Gokay has a very valid point with the test too.

I have been fixing and using Toshibas for some years now and know the support from them for example is really quite (and usually ) poor.

One site I suggest the OP contacts and even join because what the forum admin Tradesman doesn't know is I would say minimal form my dealings with him in the past. Welcome to the G.SKILL TECH FORUM I know it says G Skill but it does deal with RAM problems in general .
