    Odd FSB throttling

    Hey,

This is a friend's PC. The FSB gets throttled under 100% load for 15-20 seconds and comes alive for another 20 seconds. Rinse repeat. Might be a thermal throttle, but I failed to identify reliably. Anyway, I tried:

    - clean startup
    - load BIOS defaults
    - disable C1E and IEST (even though I knew it was not the CPU)
    - stuck a ventilator up the side, didn't change temps much

    HWInfo Sensors at Idle:

HWInfo Sensors at Load (Prime95 running):

As you can see FSB gets throttled to 60MHz instead of the normal 266MHz. Is it the northbridge getting hot perhaps? I couldn't make what the Auxiliary temp is, but it wasn't necessarily that too, was ok at 64C but throttled at 58C. So not that I believe.

Another thing comes to my mind is the PSU perhaps? I can test this, I have a spare that I can take there.

I configured a workaround for now, I reduced Max processor state in power options to 80% and that reduced the throttling by 99%. Still had 1, a short one though, while running Prime95.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
(I will add some pics in a moment)

I want to add that the exhaust fan was actually blowing in, and the CPU fan was blowing down towards the GPU. I am not sure what to do about CPU fan, but didn't have any screwdrivers for exhaust at the time.

Hey, I know this is out of context but, I just joined the site to ask you about a closed Thread. I saw you comment on it and thought maybe I could ask if you had further info. I am new to the site so I couldn't see any option to PM you, I believe there isn't one anyways so I had no other chance than to write here. Please contact me if you care, If not well nothing I can do. I saw people commenting great feedback so... Have a good day.

Merhaba, It wasn't a thread you opened, you did have a post on it but I am unsure it will send an email to you. My problem is that one of the svchosts is using too much memory. In that thread the best answer chosen was to basically add more ram, however that doesn't resolve the issue. I really don't want to create more spam under here, I dont see why wou would be, but if youre interested I have my email written in my profile, probably not a good idea but I literally have no other idea how I can reach you. -P.S in the attached pic its 1.2 but I've seen it go all the way up to 2.2.
    Regards. Kolay gelsin.
