Control, key keeps opening microsoft outlook

    Hello!

Almost a week ago I managed to spill water on my keyboard. Some buttons stopped working like space bar which is understandable, other buttons also come with numbers every time I press them so it looks like this: "8h" "7g". I can live with that until I get another keyboard. The control key however opens up microsoft outlook every time I press it, which is driving me mad. At first it just didn't work, then after the water cleared it started opening outlook. I cannot fathom why it does that and was hoping some of you more tech savvy people out there might help me understand what is going. Hopefully some1 might even come up with a fix for this annoying little problem.

It would help us to help you if you would complete your system spec.

You can do so via this link: https://www.sevenforums.com/profile.php?do=extra

There might be software installed that watches for a special "e-mail key" to be pressed. Your faulty Control key is now acting like that "e-mail key". If you remove the software (or maybe change some settings), then maybe Outlook will stop opening.

You might also want to try the Control keys that are on the On-Screen keyboard. Go to Start and type on-screen search field. That should be enough to locate the shortcut for the on-screen keyboard.

Download and run KeyCastOW (https://brookhong.github.io/2014/04/...n-windows.html - portable app, no need to install) - and press CTRL to see what keys are actually pressed.

Then use KeyTweak (KeyTweak - Free Download - Tucows Downloads) to disable either CTRL or another depending what KeyCastOW reports.

Hello again and thanks for your comments. I downloaded KeyCastOW and everytime I press control, the program reports "Launch_mail" command.

Ok, following the Launch_Mail trail I found this. Tried the 2nd option in http://dizyart.com/disabling-action-keys-on-hp-g62.html and it works. AV may complain about it though.

Edit: 3rd option is the same exe, just manually double click start it

    Edit 2: VirusTotal scan results 1/57 - https://www.virustotal.com/tr/file/d...4ae8/analysis/
