    (1) If you are saying you are moving the MB from A to B and upgrading to W10 with the HDD that you also moved from A to B it should work. If you do not move the HDD your drivers will be incorrect and it won't boot.

    (2) When you install the new MB in A, you also need a Clean Install of Win7 on A because the drivers that were there originally are not going to work since it is a new MB. After Win 7 is installed you can then upgrade to Win10. The free Win10 are upgrades which means you need to have an OS installed. You can't just install Win10.
OK...in (2) above...if I do a new clean install of Win7 with the new motherboard...will that not cause me to loose all the info/programs/files/data etc that are on A now. Will I then not have a clean install of Win 7 Pro 64bit on the ssd but have nothing at all of the existing programs/files/documents, etc. that are present now on A ?

There must be a way of adding a motherboard to (A) without loosing the entire existing Win 7 Pro 64bit systems as it exists now in (A). What would happen if my current mother board in (A) would fail tonight...would all my programs/data/files etc be lost and unrecoverable from the current ssd ?

    Thanks....Tim
The answer to the highlighted question is "Yes the clean install will erase everything". This is one reason to always put your OS and programs on your C: partition and the Documents (pictures, letters, spreadsheets, etc) on a different partition. You could then reinstall your OS and not lose the Documents because they are not on C: You should also backup your data. == There is one thing you can do. You can get an external drive and transfer your Documents to it. It would be a long process because you would be copying them. That is the only way I know to save your Docs. You could later transfer them back to the SSD when it is ready.

Well...took MB's and graphics card out of "A" and installed new MB - Memory and case...Win 7 Pro started up without issues...maybe an hour or so into use...I did get a screen popup saying Windows needs to verify the system/license...etc

Don't recall where (I think a popup screen with messagge above) but I entered the incense key (Win 7 Pro 64bit retail DVD)..and within seconds...got a congrats message and notice that system is valid...

Hope moving old board to Box B will go as smooth with same results.

Rather than a clean install of Win 7 prior to Win 10 upgrade I thought was needed...I am studying Bongo's, wasnotwas, and strollin's posts and will try Win 10 64 bit upgrade/install without any Win 7 Pro system in box by just using the original retrain 20 character windows key string from original retail Win 7 Pro DVD ???

yes...I have multiple backups on external USB drive via Acronis of my system(s), programs, and documents/files.

Fresh install of Win 7 Pro prior to Win 10 upgrade

    Thanks all....Tim
