Keyboard incorrectly mapped - not a region problem

Hi all,

I recently had my motherboard replaced by the Tech Support team at PC World, but I htink they've made a bit of a mess of it. I managed to upgrade to Windows 7 post-'repair' but this particular problem persists:

The keyboard is mapped incorrectly. The characters 'i', 'o', 'j', 'k', 'n' and 'm;, amongst others, simply do not appear. Pressing these will return '6' (in the case of 'o') and a variey of individual dashes and special characters for the other buttons.

I have switched back and forth between US and UK languages and keyboard layouts but this does not fix the problem. I have installed the latest HP driver for the keyboard and keypad but to no avail.

The keys appear to work correctly in the BIOS menu, but not at any other time during or post booting Windows 7.

I have thought of using a keyboard mapping tool, but this is not ideal as this will generally only work whilst running Windows apps - I believe some games won't get the benefit of the mapping macros?

Any suggestions would be massively welcome - if it matters, the keyboard on the HP Pavillion dv9500 is an extended keyboard, with a 1-9 number pad on the right-hand side of the board. These numbers all work correctly, as do the majority of the other alpha-numeric keys.
