External Hard Drive Problem in Windows 7

    Dear,

When I plugged in my 1 TB Western Digital Passport 3.0 External Hard Drive, I cannot copy anything to External Hard Drive. When I paste files to External Hard Drive it shows an error to run chkdsk.

While I run chkdsk it took so long time to complete. I have uploaded screenshot of chkdsk which shows no progress after 1.5 hours.

Kindly suggest me what to do....

Is there any virus on my HDD?

    Please help me....

    Hello Cybertronian!

    Sorry to hear that! :/

Can you paste from the External to the PC instead? What kind of files are trying to paste, is the the same file over and over again? Could you please connect your WD external HDD and post a screenshot of Disk Management. :)

Try backing up your files from the external somewhere else. Change the cable and port you are using, see what happens. Then scan its health using the WD Data Lifeguard tool, do both Quick and Extended tests.
