win 7/64 bluetooth functions all disappeared taskbar/device mananger

What I don't understand is why the Blu tooth drivers were not necessary itself is very odd.

The Blu tooth stuff should also be present in Devices and Printers as in the Device Manager.

Now I am wondering if the AVG is being a bit of a problem too as I am not a fan at all of it try disabling it while you run the scans - I could be going down the wrong track of course.

Here is an update, in essence a restore didn't fix it, nor did Combofix find anything, avg was removed. MY gut feeling is that this may be a hardware fault, the system is now 9 weeks old!

I have model mcc2wuki5 using win 7/64 pro. I had installed AVG 2015 av, but have subsequently removed it.

This laptop is less than 3 months old, was working fine until 29th August, since then bluetooth has not worked. There was no incident that could relate to the loss of bluetooth capability.

Here is the background. Bluetooth icon disappeared from the taskbar (ii) bluetooth is not present in the device manager or in devices & printers. (iii) bluetooth is greyed out in the Lenovo Settings App and cannot be activated.
(iv) bluetooth support service was stopped, but starting it made no difference; (v) have tried to reinstall all 3 driver items listed under bluetooth from the Lenovo website for this specific s/n. the response in each case is "no appropriate driver to be installed".Windows update prior to 29th was uninstalled. No Lenovo updates are shown as being required.

We have also restored the system back to 24th August, as well as removed AVG & Adobe Flash (both updated post the bluetooth fail). Combofix run with no malware incidents.

All other aspects, inc wifi are working as they should. Am temporarily using a USB mouse that installed without difficulty.

Is this a hardware fault?

edit: have also run the lenovo hardware test app - bluetooth not listed!

Rob have you a dedicate card in that machine for Blu tooth?? I ask because there are not drivers for Blu tooth for that board.
In all honesty the board is now quite old and if I am not terribly mistaken never had Blu tooth capabilities in the first instance.

My next suggestion is are you in the situation of being able to buy a new board and CPU RAM etc? a I am of the opinion that this may be the first in a long line of problems / issues that are going to crop up on this board. If the machine has decent case hen the rest you can use from the original build. Mind you I would think the PSU - a fairly common and often overlooked device is probably in need of replacement.

Now I know it is easy for me to say but component's if you are just building for a general use run of the mill machine - you will find at very reasonable prices especially the older Pentium chips for example which very similar to the one you are now running. Same goes for the board and RAM and an SSD ( a must if you want performance and again not that expensive) if you are looking at doing graphical stuff or over clocking then it the starts to get a little expansive - worth a thought mate.

The board drivers are here but again in all honesty you might end up chasing your tail. GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-EP35C-DS3R (rev. 2.1)


Just for the heck of it post a thread headed advice on a new build - for example you can title it what you like and you will soon there a lot of members who will help you out.

Oops Rob sorry took the eye off the ball there eh?

Now as a matter of interest I have had quite a few issues with Bu tooth mice namely a huge lag between moving the device and the cursor starting to move. This especially true after a fair time in idle.

So would you consider moving to an optical?? some of the laser ones are really quite accurately. My problem with them is that I tend or lose or break the small dongle whilst it is in the machine. The Bu tooth as you will know needs none of that clutter. I did try redoing the drivers over and over but with no success so until I can come u with an answer for those issues I am using a wifi mouse.

Anyway my issues might not be what your problem is al about but I did find redoing the drivers helpful. These are your Lenovo ones Laptops and netbooks :: Lenovo B Series laptops :: Lenovo B50 70 Notebook - Lenovo Support (US) > just make sure you pick the 7 64bit one though.

Now as another point my gaming Asus laptop was downgraded to 7 from 8 because I just don't like it - and I don't know if this will affect Lenovo but I had to update the BIOS to be able to download the 7 drivers. Worth finder out about if you have time.

Yes Rob I do think it is a hardware problem and like I described with my Asus that was made for 8 and downgraded (if one considers it as such).

Have you contacted Lenovo about this at all? I ask because they might advise you to update BIOS as I had to with the Asus machine I have.

To see what is in the machine take a read of my ditty and sue PART B: to see just what is in the machine. In my pic of mine you can see what to open to find the Blu tooth info on your machine it will be good to see what comes up.

Using HW Info

PART A:

You can test the volts onthe PSU with HW Info HWiNFO,HWiNFO32/64 - Download <download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensorsand scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts aredoing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton)with VBATT is a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages.There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE

Now the voltage on thedifferent rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machinewill not work properly if at all.

The original right handwindow shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at thecomponents in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel

PART B:

Open each small squarewith + in it on the section the components are in and then click on theindividual component/s (it willhighlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of detailsincluding brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. Seepic for example.

Just run this before you go to factory default settings as that may take you back to the 8 crud
