WD Blue 1 TB Hdd dismounting while running Steam

For some reason my D: drive keeps disappearing when I go to use Steam. If in install a game or attempt to check the cache on local files, it gives me an error about halfway through, steam closes, and the D: drive is gone from windows explorer. It will come back if I reboot. I've already tried to use the disk manager to see if it's still there (under the control panel>administrative tools), and it's not....it totally dismounts. I don't have to seem this problem while running any other program off of the D: drive. Like it says in the title, it's a western digital caviar blue 1TB HDD. I have a 650 watt psu and its not near load.... so i don't think it's a power problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, have a good one.

    You could try re-installing Steam.

    - Delete everything other than steam.exe and steamapps folder (important if you don't want to re-download all games ).
    - Run steam.exe

    Hello Teccmo!

I'm sorry you're experiencing issues with this! :/

The Steam installation could be on bad sectors and thus it only causes problems. Reinstall Steam just like GokAy explained and then run the WD Data Lifeguard support to check the drive's health. Do both Quick and Extended tests, post the results here and post the SMART values from the DLG as well.

If you have any other valuable data on that drive, back it up before everything else. You could also try changing the SATA cable.
