Here is what happened since the last time we corresponded:

After having the OS re-installed and the computer set back to factory defaults,, last night I tried to do a restore using the Macrium Boot Disk to boot, followed the directions on restoring using the image backup on a external HD, took 7 hours to do the install, and at the end of it, the screen showed the following:

    WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

    1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
    2. Choose your language settings, and click "next"
    3. Click "repair your computer"

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

    Status: 0xc0000225

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is unaccessible.

I could not boot into Windows as I don't have the disc. I tried to boot into the Macrium Recovery Disc, as that is the only disc I had, and no luck. Don't know what to do at this time, other than take it back to Fry's and have them erase the HD or re-format it and re-install Windows to factory, and try to manually install all of the programs.

    Any ideas ?

Dang! In hindsight, I should have recommended for you to create a repair disk before attempting to do the restore. Do you have a friend or relative that has a computer running the same version of Windows? For instance, if your machine is running 64-bit Win 7 Home, then find a computer with that same version of Windows. You can use that machine to create a Win 7 repair disk that should allow you to boot and attempt to do the repair.

It's interesting that the system restore took 7 hours, seems excessive. How big is the image you were restoring?

OK, Just got back from Fry's, and they just used the Microsoft System Recovery <I think> disc to repair and top load into Windows. I believe he said that the system was missing a few start up files, but in any case, the image I had made was good, and he booted up and everything was there and working and he even did a check to see if everything was good, and it was. I am so relieved. Now, as far as the Win 7 recovery disc,, I tried MS they pointed me to the OEM, b ut since I have everything back to normal, can I do this from my machine ?

Great news! You can create a system repair disk right from your computer. Click on the Start button then type "repair" (no quotes) into the search box and it will find the "Create a system repair disk" option. Do that now so you'll have it if you need it in the future.

I just did that, hopefully will not need it in the future <G>. Again, I truly appreciate the time and effort to help me solve this dilemma , and hope that I can be of assistance to others in the future. Thanks again.
