Computer no longer has USB input, mouse/keyboard, suspect virus
I have a windows 7 computer, here is the system info.
I7 quadcore processors on an MS-7582 MB
Standard hdd and a backup.
1000 watt ps.
MSi 660 Nividia graphics cards.
I have two of these they are almost identical.
For no apparent reason the one I'm having trouble with just started shutting down the PNP inputs connected to the USB ports.
I could hear the "disconnect" sound. First I thought I had overloaded the PS because the keyboard and mouse quit, but that doesn't seem to be the case. All of the receptacles on the Power Supply are working.
I can get the computer to start, and go the windows start screen but with no input device I can't do anything.
Can't safe boot, can't boot into bios, I've tried the install disks and it won't boot from there and a recovery disk didn't work either.
Cleared the CMOS, pulled the battery.
Nothing helps.
Installed a 3.0 USB card which will give me power to my phone charger but nothing else.
Tried an old PS keyboard with a USB adapter that didn't work.
Bought an old keyboard with the PS plug. That didn't work.
Pretty wierd
I know this is a PIA for anyone trying to help. So I'm going to thank anyone in advance that takes the time to help.
I can get a new hard drive it that might help.
I can LAN together the two computers if that might help.
I can make whatever kind of start disk from the other computer. I have all the disks and keys.
Its still to good of a computer to give up on, so any help would really be appreciated
