How to connect CD Drive to Lenovo M53 Thinkcentre?

This forum was a tremendous help to me when my laptop had serious problems after 2 years. Long story that I won't repeat.

I now own a Lenovo M53 Thinkcentre Desktop (I couldn't help laughing when I opened the box and saw it's actual size). I'm so used to desktops having a CD drive that it completely slipped by me that the M53 does not have one. I learned from this forum about covers for hard drives to use them externally and bought one for the HD that I removed from my laptop. I also removed the CD drive and was told by Lenovo that the CD drive does not require a cover, I would just connect it via usb.

There is no usb port on this drive, so how would I connect it to my M53 so I can install my software? Thank you. Jane

Can you list the model on the cd drive, that is odd that it would accept usb without an adapter I think they were confused. EDIT: is this your drive? Hi, yes, that was my old laptop. Model no. DS-8A9SH27C. Also, I am having trouble downloading windows updates. Keep getting the message error code 800702ee2. Can you or someone help with that, too? I'm using my Kindle fire since I cannot connect to the internet with the desktop, even though it shows I am connected. Thanks.

On the desktop hit start then open cmd.exe (type it in the search bar) and then put in ipconfig /all and paste the results from it on here please. Also look in your device manger and see if you have any yellow triangles on anything.

Thanks for getting back to me. I contacted Lenovo and they couldn't help. Rep said it is defective (brand new) and to return it. So, I am doing that and getting a replacement or would you recommend another desktop altogether? In the meantime, I will order that adapter cable for the optical drive if I buy another M53. Thanks.
