    AHCI Drivers

Hello- I am getting ready to install an SSD in my system. I'm pretty sure the AHCI driver is in place, but not sure. I also believe that it is activated in the BIOS. Is there a way to be sure?
Please note attached image of Device Manager-

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi,
You shouldn't have any problems or need any special drivers...

If the disk drive that was in the system when the OS was installed was a SATA drive then AHCI is probably already enabled. You can check for sure in the BIOS.

Thanks for the responses... Yeah, 'ThrashZone', thanks for the tutorial link. I had bookmarked that and forgot.

'strollin', I do believe I remember seeing AHCI in the BIOS- have only been in there once, and don't completely understand that UEFI yet, though.

In the attachments below, I believe I have to change a couple of values to '0'. One that wasn't mentioned in the tutorial was 'iaStorF'. Does that require a change as well?

    Thanks again!

    Hi,
I wouldn't change anything unless you have a problem installing clean or transferring the os :/

All my re-installs/ clean installs to ssd's were too easy :)
I prefer clean installing because well it's clean = fresh start

Well, that tutorial said that those registry settings had to be modified. Yeah, I plan on a clone/migration but rather do a clean install. This is an HP Envy machine and the only recovery media I have is a partition on the HDD, which I want to get rid of. I do have a copy of the Digital River Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64 on disc, but I need to know that the MS license key on the computers sticker will work with it. It should, as the machine is not even a year old and came installed with the same OS.
    Thanks for all the input.

The key will work as long as the ISO is for the same version.

Thanks, 'Boozad'... On this ISO, all 4 editions of Windows 7 are present. I had a bad file on this machine that 'sfc /scannow' wouldn't fix. So, I went and copied the item from that ISO, think it was item 4 on the list of editions (Windows 7 Pro SP1) and replaced the bad item with the good copy- problem solved. It was a glitch in IE 11, so we also downgraded to IE 10. Don't use IE anyway.
Do you under stand what I'm talking about regarding the list of editions on the ISO?

    Thanks again-

I do indeed, it has had the ei.cfg removed.
