I have removed the hard drive from my laptop because it won't load and the laptop cannot see the drive.
I bought a universal SATA/IDE usb connector cable but it didnt fit.

I want to see if the hard drive still works by plugging it into another laptop via usb,
    pics attached

    many thanks

Thanks for the enclosure suggestion but they dont seem to show the actual connection ie 22pins, and I have already bought one SATA adapter which doesnt fit by 22 pins which mine requires.

I found these which appear to have the connection I need

Im not sure which is best?
it could be the drive is bad as it can't be seen in the laptop or the docking station you just got. try another drive in the docking station if you have one and see if that gets recognized.

I have successfully used the hub to check another drive so oscer1 you were right, the first drive I wanted to see is dead.
