    Micro Freezes in Web Browsing

    Hi folks!

Having a somewhat weird issue here. I don't know what to call it other than micro hangs/freezes. I first noticed it on YouTube (via Chrome) when video would freeze for a couple seconds, audio would continue on, then the video would unfreeze and keep going. It jumps to where it's supposed to be, as opposed to playing super fast to catch up. I noticed the same thing happening when I would be typing an email, typed words wouldn’t appear for a second or two and then suddenly catch up. I did a test of watching YouTube and typing and noticed the hang was happening at the same time (i.e. when YouTube was freezing, so was my typing). When this i happening, virtually no system resources are being used (I don’t have Adobe stuff open, etc, just a chrome browser tab with YouTube and another with email.) There's no apparent rhyme or reason, just happens randomly and not every time I’m watching YouTube, but most times and at least a few times in a 3 minute video.

    What I've tried:
    - ran CCleaner to fix whatever I could, cleaned Chrome cache, etc
    - started running Memtest86 and so far no errors (left running at work and no errors yet after the first pass)
    - I run a tight PC, no extra crap running, simple and streamlined
    - running AVAST

I have no idea what this is, but it's driving me nuts. Any thoughts? Not sure what to try.

    System:

    32GB (4x8GB) G.Skill Ares, XMP @ 1600
PNY GTX 660 with recent driver version 358.91

    Seasonic M12II 520W ECO
240GB Mushkin ECO - OS Drive

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Lets see what a tight ship looks like
    Use Clean boot,
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Click Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
    Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,

You can also post an image of your Chrome extensions too

Thanks TZone, I appreciate the help here. Attached are my screenshots, I think you'll agree it's pretty tight

I've seen another signs of this freeze issue, noticed sometimes scrolling a page will freeze as well, and then catch back up. Starting to wonder if it's purely Chrome? I opened IE and played a youtube clip there, an no problems (thought it could be a one-off). Even typing this reply I've had the typing stop and go.

    Hi,
Uncheck everything except Avast from startup and restart see if the issue remains.

List the other items on the startup section seems you skipped some or a second screen shot of the rest of the list.

I'll give that a shot, thanks. There's more on the startup list, but nothing else that's checked. I'll include a screenshot anyway.

Also, been using Internet Explorer 11 today, and I'm still having similar issues, so the issue isn't constricted to Chrome. I'll let you know restart goes, takes a bit sometimes since it's intermittent.

Spyder is a monitor color calibrator, Redragon is my mouse's software and Ever Accountable is just an accountability software. I've had these before and not had issues (except Redragon, that's a new mouse, so uncharted territory...)
