    battery finished ?

Laptop shuts down the moment it is unplugged. The charger shows little green light and is slightly warm.

When I hover over the small electric wire picture in the toolbar is gives " 0% available (plugged in charging )"

Don't think this has anything to do with devices?
No yellow exclamation marks in Device manager. The 3 batteries are all working proper.

Should I buy the same battery as is installed ( DELL 83 pounds ) or can I buy cheaper stuff like on Amazon ( SIB-CORP 17 pounds ). Looks the same animal to me.

Look at the spec.s. If the voltage, input and output are the same you should be o.k.. Having said that, I personally prefer buying from the OEM.

    Hi,
Without links to the item it's pretty tough to say if they are the same or not,
But if the manufacture has one I'd get it from them if for nothing else you never know who is selling on Amazon unless Amazon is the selling and shipping the item because they have many vendors that sell stuff there so read the reviews of the vender

Ok, and thanks, both :) for the info, I take this serious and do a review of the battery market in general, also shipment to Austria.

There's one selling here; Battery upgrade.at.

Hello Thelma run this and look at the battery status it will tell you the cell volts and capacities
    Using HW Info
    PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT is a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
    ATX Minimum Specs:

    3.3v Rail (Min: 3.14v Max: 3.47v)

    5v Rail (Min: 4.75v Max: 5.25v)

    12v Rail (Min: 11.4v Max: 12.6v)
See this for the rail voltage info
Power Supply 101: A Reference Of Specifications - Power Supplies (Section 2.)
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
    FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
    PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.

Use PART A: see my pic for what you are looking for

Have not ordered a new one as jet, ( know for sure mine is dead ) market quite big and complicated. I know I have to be good with Voltage and Size. Am a bit skinned so need to watch the price?

PS. Put a record on for you on "what are you listening to " my favorite Seven Forums thread, LOVE music. Lucky I got my two speakers bungling side by side my lappy.

Hi John,:) I have made a screenshot of my HWiNO64 application.
No, I cannot do it, it says invalid file. Is that because it is moving ( voltages changing )

Anyway, I think the readings will be influenced by the bad state the battery is in?
