Unable to get second monitor working Acer H236HL BID

    Dear experts,

I just got a new monitor the 23" Acer H236HL BID which I what to be my second monitor and I am unable to get it detected by Windows 7. I have updated my graphics card's drivers. Right now the acer is connected by an hdmi cable and my main monitor is connected by a vga cable with a vga to dvi connector. When I connected my acer monitor with the vga cable it was able to work. But since my other monitor was unplugged it wasn't working. Even though the acer monitor is plugged in it does not show up on device manager. I have no idea what the problem could be.

    Thank you for your help,
    jakethesnak

    Edit:
Just tried plugging the acer monitor with the hdmi cable into my laptop and it fully works. I believe the problem has to be with the hdmi port of my graphics card then.

Why are you going vga to dvi ?

Can`t you go HDMI on one monitor and DVI on the other ?

Or DVI on both monitors ?

I hope your video card isn`t bad

MSI has good support, if 1 of the ports is bad, you should setup an RMA

I am going vga to dvi because I believe the other dvi port on my graphics card is not working which was the one both of my monitors had support for so I just changed cables.

So you think the HDMI and a DVI port is bad on the card ?

I believe so that would be the only logical conclusion after this. I am thinking of emailing MSI and asking for a replacement. Could there be any other problems that are causing this?

I doubt it, you installed the latest drivers. The only other thing to do is test it on another PC, along with both monitors.

Stlll no go setup an RMA with MSI, you`d have to see how long your warranty is for, how long you`ve had the card etc.

Hello I just got back my refurbished card and the same issue is still occuring. What could the problem be if its not the ports on my card?
