    Ghost optical drive??

I have a "ghost" optical drive in my Ivy Bridge that I cannot find an answer for.

I only have the Samsung Blu ray optical drive and am just wondering if anyone can let me know if they have had a similar experience or a solution.

    Hi John,

Do you use PowerISO or any other virtual drive program ?
I get the same Windows Explorer display and Icon you have if i run PowerISO and have the Number of Drives set to 1.
I set Number of Drives to Disable to remove the virtual CD drive.

Disk Emulation softwares will do add another Optical Drive (Virtual Drive) for your mounted disk Images.

I use CDBurnerXP for mounting ISOs and it puts a virtual ODD on my C: drive. It doesn't hurt anything for it to be there.

Yep I was using ImgBurn and just tried that Power ISO out when someone suggested it. Anyway I have finally got used to ImgBurn - seemed quite convoluted at first
