1080p TV via HDMI as a Monitor - looks like crap

I'm having trouble getting a TV to work as a monitor, it's a 1080p with a native resolution of 1080x1920, I have my laptop set at that, connected to it via HDMI. The text is blurry, the pixels don't seem as sharp.

    It's a Celcus 32'' LED TV

I'd love some help with setting it up properly, so I can use it as my monitor, it's quite urgent as I'm unable to use my laptop's screen (broken) and have some paperwork for uni due Tuesday, staring at this is just giving me a headache

EDIT: the manufacturer is apparently a liar, this is a 1080i crap... anything I can do to make it look or work better, still?

Even if it`s 1080i it should still work.

No other monitors to try ?

    Hi,
What was the laptops recommended resolution
I would try it or simply lower it to 1600x900...
