    Strange Additions

I still use Vista as my primary computer on a daily basis. Once or twice a week I'll check W7 for updates, etc. I've noticed some things showing when I click on "Computer" I don't recall seeing and have no idea where the came from or how they got on there. They're under "Devices with Removable Storage". I knkow what the DVD is for but not the others.

    Hello David, :)

Do you have a media card reader installed? It looks like it may be for that.

I get similar items in Explorer from my media card reader. It's normal.

Sorry to get back later...had a little problem. No media card installed. The only thing I have in a USB port is a Netgear USB adapter in the back to connect with my WiFi Router down stairs.

Your forum system specs state that you have a Dell XPS 8700. Are you sure that you don't have card readers on the front panel? Maybe above a DVD drive.

If this is for the Dell XPS 8700 in your system specs, then its specs show it having a 19:1 memory card reader.

Are you sure you don't have one?

That's wild-no card ready other than than the rear connection I mentioned. Even if I did have one, what's all the rest of those for? They weren't there a week ago.

I'm downstairs but will go back up and double check. I feel certain there are no card readers connected anywhere.

Nope-nothing at all connected. It does have provisions for connecting one but none are connected. OK, I'm sorry. I thought you meant did I have any connected and there is none. I looked again and it does look like the photo you show here so that must be where those are coming from...my bad.

Perhaps this Folder Options setting got unchecked:

Possible but they're all checked now as I just looked-that one and the two below. I think I'm squared away now. I know what all are for now except I-drive but the others are more important. Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I could have sworn those drives were not there a week ago yet, I wouldn't have unchecked those boxes.
