Right, now we have established there is a problem, with that yellow lightning bolt.
Yes it could previously have been plugged into one of the USB2 ports, which is why I suggested changing the USB ports over, to see if that made a difference.
Have you tried looking on the Epson website to see if there is updated software for your printer.
Is the printer 32 bit or 64 bit version.
Well this is very interesting. I too am running an Epson WF3620 (pretty much the same thing as a 3640, same drivers, etc..) and have my Samsung EVO 850 500g set at 'Samsung High Performance' and have my display set to power off at 15 mins, and my machine sleep at 30 mins. Awaken is on mouse or keybd input, although I am running both a wireless mouse and keybd combo not USB (shouldn't really matter.) I have noticed that my machine will all of a sudden be awakened for no apparent reason.. no keyboard or mouse input, no printer head park, etc. In fact, in thinking that it might be a printer self-execute command, I powered down the printer. Still the same PC awaken. I was not aware of the 'powercfg lastwake' command. When I ran it, it said "Windows will execute '\Microsoft\Windows\Media Center\mcupdate_scheduled' scheduled task that requested waking the computer". Well, I do run WMC with Hauppauge USB TV tuner. I guess WMC will self-run an automatic update at various intervals regardless of WMC running and the machine being in sleep mode! Huh. This solves a mystery for me!! Not sure if this has any direct relevance to your issue... I guess I just needed to vent on somthing that's been bugging me! The 'powercfg' command helped me understand what's going on. Thanks!!
No, it was most assuredly plugged into a USB 3.0 port. Everything is the latest, greatest from Epson. When you install-each and every time- from the Epson CD, it goes online and checks for firmware, driver, etc. updates. I learned about that firmware update the hard way a few years ago when I was running CIS systems. Of course, if you don't block the printer in the firewall when using a CIS, the OEM will find out your using non-genuine ink and bump the firmware.
As far as x64 and x86 go, it's hard to say without a quick study- there's Epson files in both x64/x86 files in C:\Progs.
Anyway, I have another issue I'm juggling on the same machine over in the Storage section, but I'm sure that USB 3.0 port I alluded to earlier with the lightening bolt symbol has something to do with non interrupted dedication or something. As soon as these storage diagnostics are done, I'll surely report back.

OK... that USB 3.0 port with the lightening bolt symbol is used for devices that require constant power source ability-ie-cell phones, and external drives, dvd burners. So, when the pc goes to sleep, that port is kept hot and that's why the hub controller stays functional. I haven't tested it yet since moving the printer over to the other port, but my expectations are high. There are some registry hacks to juggle events around, but we're going to stay away from that notion. Like mentioned earlier, everything worked fine, and when I reinstalled the printer software and drivers we more than likely plugged into the wrong port.
Of further note, we're keeping that ethernet controller in mind, too, as the pc is still getting a signal there when sleeping.
We'll test it later today...was layin' in bed and couldn't get the mind off it.
Tim, have you gone into Advanced Power Management & clicked on each of the items & changed the settings. There are a few there related to Allowing this Device to Wake the Computer, that might need changing.
Your note about power being available at USB ports for charging mobile phones etc. is correct, but a lot of motherboards even allow that when shut down, with the mains power still connected. A lot of people think that using the usual Windows shut down isolates the computer from the power supply, but it doesn't. The only way to remove all power from the computer is to switch it off at the wall.

Well, we're perplexed...nothing has changed. Here's what I see in AdvPwrMgt- I just chnged the USB Suspend to disabled, and this is the the way Hard Disk is set. 'powercfg last wake' still points to Intel USB 3,0 Extensible Hub Controller as the trigger source, and in the other shot of 'cmd' (Devicequery), I can't figure out what those last 2 HID's are... GRRRRRR!

It should be off to keep the network from waking the computer. I know you're getting a USB message in the lastwake settings, but it doesn't hurt to check.
Thanks for that Melon Head...but, Nope!...it's where it should be. One of the first things I checked, figuring streaming would wake up the pc.
Here's the deal- I just unplugged the printer from the USB 3.0 port, and sleep mode works fine. The USB Hub Driver was a newer variant than what HP has on their site. So, we rolled that back to the HP driver. There's a chance that I accidentally took a hardware update in Windows Update after the fresh install a couple of days ago...things got real hectic with Windows 7 Update and its lethargic behavior, capisce?
Normally, on an OEM machine such as this HP Envy, I'll only take driver updates through their site, as they are re-signed by them.
So, let's focus on the printer and the USB 3.0 port. Here's what's going on in the BIOS-
Hardware Power Management-
SATA Power Management ENABLE (which means it's disabled)
S4/S5 Wake On LAN ENABLE (which means it's disabled)
USB Fast Charging Port ENABLE (which means it's disabled)

Tim. It looks like the problem is the USB3 port or the printer. From what you said in your post #19 the computer now sleeps if the printer is not connected.
Your computer has 2 USB3 ports, have you tried the printer in the other USB3 to see if the same waking from sleep happens.
Just as a matter of interest are you shutting the computer down & then changing the USB port connections & then powering up again. This will trigger the loading of new drivers if necessary, so that might be worth trying.
