    PwrCfg/Sleep Mode Issue

    G'day all-

I have my pc set up to go to sleep in 60 mins, monitor turns off in 30 mins, screen saver engages in 10 mins. Everything was working fine yesterday, and I made NO changes to the system. I have a Samsung SSD, and the power setting is set to Samsung High Performance by Samsung Magician settings. The screen saver kicks in at 10 mins, and the monitor shuts down at 30, like set. At 60 mins, the pc attempts to go to sleep, but simply restarts. For the record, we've run 'sfc/ scannow' and it comes up with no integrity violations.

Please find attached the 'Energy Report-html'

Please advise if you need any screen shots from 'DevMgr', Advanced Power Settings, or wherever.

Sure would appreciate any help with this, and offer a Thank You in advance.

    Regards-

    tim

    UPDATE!!!

Ran CMD 'powercfg lastwake' and it listed the Intel USB 3.0eXtensible Host Controller as the last wake up incidence. Went to 'DevMgr' and checked settings, but there's no tab for power management. The plot thickens!...Perhaps reinstall device?... there are NO 3.0 USB devices plugged in at present.

Please note attached CMD screen shot.

    Thanks-

Found something interesting... I have 3 USB ports in use- keyboard (set to wake), mouse (disable wake), and an Epson WF-3640 printer. I unplugged the printer, and now the machine sleep mode performs as set. We went through 'DevMgr' and checked everything to do with the device. Do not see any settings for it.

If you have set the Samsung Magician to Maximum Performance the Sleep Setting will be set to Never.

You can override the Magician settings by going into the Advanced Power Settings. To do that open Control Panel, select Power Options, when that opens you will see the Preferred Settings are Samsung High Performance, click on Change Plans, there you can either change the Never Sleep setting to what you want, or you can go to Change Advanced power Settings.

Making a change here will change your Magician settings. So can recheck in Magician again to see what has changed.

Get back if you have more questions.

Thanks, Ranger4... before I reinstalled OS, that's the way I had it set and there were no issues. This has to do with 'powercfg lastwake', and that cmd indicates Intel USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller. There are 3 devices running through that- keyboard, mouse, and printer. I unplugged the printer, and everything works as set in power config. So, Magician has nothing to do with it (as proven via the last installation), and when the Epson printer is brought on line, that's where the problem begins. There is no option in DevMgr for PwrMgt, either. I have the plan set to wake by keyboard. I uninstalled the printer, cleaned it up with CCleaner, reinstalled via Epson install disc and have same issue. On the last install of Windows, we had no issues there. Nothing really has changed, except I can't get the new storage HDD set up right, but that's another issue.
    Any more ideas?... Thanks!

According to what I have found on the web about your motherboard, it has 2 x USB2 & 2 x USB3 I/O ports.

Have you tried using the printer on one of the USB2 ports to see if it does the same thing. You mention in your System Specs that you have a USB mouse & a USB keyboard so I expect they are using the 2 x USB2 ports. Try changing the mouse to a USB3 & the printer to that USB2 & see what happens.

If changing the USB doesn't work then, do you need the printer on at all times, if not just leave it turned off & only turn it on when needed, might be a work around.

On my motherboard the mouse wont work from a USB3 port, so that needs to be kept in mind.

I have just had a browse through my Device Manager & there are a lot of devices listed under Human Interface Devices. See if your printer is listed there. Some of the HID devices on mine have a Power Management setting & others don't, so have a look & see whether that helps.

This is just a thought & might be a wild goose chase.

Thanks, Ranger4- Here's a couple of attachments as to what's going on. The things you mention should be of no concern- this exact same config worked before, before the fresh OS install. SFC/SCANNOW's good, in fact the system runs very well.
I'm starting to get piled up for a bit here, so take a look, if you will, at these screen shots. Please let me know if there's any other photos of settings that you'd like to see.

Thanks!....has something to do with those last 2 HID's shown in the 2nd CMD shot...can't find them in DevMgr.

Regarding the USB 2.0 ports- the mouse and keyboard are plugged into both of those on the back of machine... Now, just above that are 2 USB 3.0 orts- one has normal symbol designation, the other has the symbol with a lightening bolt by it- that's the one the printer was plugged into, with lightening bolt. I'm thinking before that it may have been plugged into the standard on. That, I can't remember... what do you think?

Here ya go... Check out the I/O porting- rear panel. Mouse and Keyboard are in ports #3, and printer is in ports #5, and the one indicated by the orange '5' ballon has the lightening bolt...
