AddRAM: attached screen shot of Partition Wizard. Yes; it's a single PCI-e card with two 120GB boards; and two Raptor's in a RAID-0.

whs: Thanks, I'll check that out in the morning (my brief skim makes it look like data recovery, I already recovered all I need to) I will read & watch the videos when I'm not too tired.

That is correct. The original purpose of the tutorial was for data recovery. But the live Linux stick lets you also inspect everything that's on the disk. Then you can go from there.

I have checked out the tutorial and, unless I am missing something, I am unsure how this is helpful to discovering where the missing space has gone; the operating system is running fine on the SSD in question. Is there a utility I should use in Mint that cannot be run in Windows?

As an aside, I have ran 'vssadmin list shadowstorage':
    Shadow Copy Storage association
    For volume: (C:)\\?\Volume{2a939b54-a1cb-470e-aa56-70d0bb55d9f6}\
    Shadow Copy Storage volume: (C:)\\?\Volume{2a939b54-a1cb-470e-aa56-70d0bb55d9f6}\
Used Shadow Copy Storage space: 0 bytes (0%)
Allocated Shadow Copy Storage space: 0 bytes (0%)
Maximum Shadow Copy Storage space: 2.23 GB (1%)

So it does not appear to be this either.

Well it doesn`t look like the drive is dead, because it`s all there, so you have to decide, do you want to reinstall windows AGAIN

You or something is not doing it right, there should be no more then 20 GB taken up when you`re done, I`ve had my Z170 together for roughly 4 months and I have 38 GB used space.

Either that or start searching every nook and cranny of C til you find what`s taking up the space.

I have no issue rebuilding the PC again; my main concern is that to as I do not think I have done anything stupid nor can I point my finger to anything suspicious I am unconvinced that the same issue will not reappear again (in under a week) once I have rebuilt it.

There must be an explanation as to what is taking up 75% of the partition.

Well that program certainly isn`t going to help you find it.

This would never happen if you installed Windows 7

And I finally forced myself to get used to 10.

Did you ever have Linux on this ssd ?

Did you ever wipe it with the clean or clean all command ?

You can get unuse to 10 faster then you got use to it :)

So glad I never have computer problems

Go on, create a Partition Wizard Boot CD, wipe that thing, get on with it
