Sigma USB Dock error "Cannot recognise the USB DOCK"

    Hello,

I am trying to get my Sigma USB dock and software to recognize the dock and lens. I will try to list as much information as possible.

    USB Dock for Nikon
    150-600 Contemporary lens
    Windows 7 Pro SP1
Intel i5 with 16gb of memory
    Verizon DSL (Not Fios)

The Sigma USB Dock allows you to fine tune the focus of the lens at different focal lengths and distances using the Sigma Optimization Pro software. You can adjust the vibration reduction settings as well. The computer needs to be connected to the internet for it to work.

I have tried two different USB Docks (sent the first back).

I sent in the lens and dock together to Sigma at the direction of Sigma after contacting their tech department. The technician tested both together. He could find no problems and found it connected properly to the Windows 7 computer he used. He felt it might be a security issue with my antivirus. I have tried connecting the antivirus disabled with the same results.

Here is what I am experiencing:
After opening up the Sigma Optimization PRO program it asks me to connect the lens to the dock then the dock to the cable then to the computer. When I do the light on the Dock comes on and a popup window appears on the monitor saying "Checking for the latest firmware..." A moment later a window appears saying "Cannot recognize the USB Dock". When I click the CLOSE button it begins checking if the latest firmware for the lens is available then a window appears saying "Cannot recognize the lens".

I have updated the chipset for my motherboard and processor, and downloaded all the updates for the USB controller an everything else I could think of. I have tried every USB port on the computer. Both my handheld and vehicle GPS connect with no problems as do my weather station and SD card readers and USB memory sticks. I also tried restoring Windows to a point before I first installed the USB Dock. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Sigma Optimization Pro multiple times.

Under Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/ Devices and Printers the USB dock appears as Unspecified. Under the Hardware tab it is listed as USB-DOCK and under Device Functions it reads:
HID Compliant consumer control device Type: Human Interface
USB Input Device Type: Human Interface
Device Status: The device is working properly

When I click on Properties for "HID Compliant consumer control device", then click on Driver Details it says "No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device".
When I click on Properties for "USB Input Device" it lists 3 driver files:

    C:\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\hidclass.sys
    C:\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\hidparse.sys
    C:\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\hidusb.sys

It seems like all is connecting together properly but not communicating at the very last mile.

I also logged onto my DSL Modem and did not find any security settings which might have an impact.

    Thank you for your help.

    Bill M

Unfortunately, no. I sent the lens & dock in to the Sigma repair facility in NY and they said it worked fine for them. They didn't have a clue as to why it would not work with my version of Windows 7. The Sigma USB dock has turned out to be a paperweight.

It seems to me that the program isn't communicating with the on line server.
Don't you need to register or create an account somewhere?

Silly question, but are you using Sigma lens on it?

No i don't need to register nor create an account, I'm using COMODO internet security but I tried disabling it and trying (without rebooting) and still the same

I would say that the Comodo firewall is blocking the Sigma program to act as a server. Try to enter the Firewall programs privileges and see if you can find a line with the Sigma program.

when you start the sigma application it checks for updates, I tried installing an older version and the program said there was a new version and let me download it, doesn't it mean it can connect?
