W7 recognize WD Eternal HDD but doesn't open and DIKSmgmt takes foreve

Hey guys,

It's some days that I am trying any solution on the net including previous threads on this forum to solve my issue. None worked so far. Issue is here:
When I connect my 1TB WD, W7 recognize it and its drive even shows in my computer as E:. But it doesnt show the content and takes forever to show the details in diskmagmt or use any other tools. I have already cleaned up all my drivers multiple times and that's not working. After I disconnected my WD, the testdisk_win software that you see there showed that it has seen the drive, but shows it just when I disconnect the disk. Of course the mysterious filling green bar is an issue here too when I try explorer.

I was thinking maybe it needs time like around a day to figure it but then I thought that might kill my HDD. I am not expecting anything be wrong with the HDD as it was just sitting in my drawer for like a week! and I have important files on it. Appreciate any thought or solution.

I have attached a screen shot.
Thanks a lot.

Well, I am waiting on the windows after I connected the WD to see maybe it just simply takes lots of hours for it to scan all the HDD and it's maybe needed.
Meanwhile, please share with me if you have any idea or info about this, making it easier or safer for my data.

I'm sorry you're having an issue with a WD drive! :/

I would guess this is an external one? What is its make and model? How old is it?

It sounds like the drive has been damaged. It's not normal for the system to be so slow, it is most likely being malfunctioned. :/

If this is an external drive, try it with a new USB cable to every USB port and even on another system, see how it is performing and if it is malfunctioning the system again. Use the dedicated tool, the WD Data Lifeguard tool to check the drive's health, do a Quick test and view the SMART values, post a screenshot of the results. Do not use chkdsk for now.

Good luck, post back! :)
