HDD Raw

Hi Jumanji

I am addressing this post to you (with respect to your fellow advisers) since you are the person i had all contact with regarding my disc problems.I finally got around to performing the recovery of my data from my Iomega HDD.it was a fairly successful exercise since i seem to have most of the important stuff intact.there were some losses but thankfully nothing serious.having said all that i noticed that the drive used for saving the recovered data is showing the contents "bar"(in computer) as red instead of the regular blue.i can access all files etc and it shows in device manager and discmanager as normal.i am curious to know why this happens.as regards the Iomega "raw" drive what's to do next.will it be usable or is there a process to follow.

Glad that you could recover most of the data.

As Layback Bear has rightly queried, if the free space on any HDD is less than 10%, the HDD content bar may show RED (alert :)) . See this thread HDD Red Indicator Bar

As for the Iomega external HDD is concerned, whatever data you lost was the data in bad sectors. You are well advised to discard the HDD rather than trying to repair/reuse it. Once bitten, twice shy.

my thanks to LaybackBear and Jumanji for your replies regarding drive colour.i feel a little silly now since i should have known.believe it or not i did actually come across this before. many thanks also for all your advice on my HDD Raw problems.i was really impressed with "lupu 528" also.
