Using Bluetooth Mouse with Win7 x64

hello there, i'm not so familiar with bluetooth devices.

i have been given a bluetooth microsoft mouse which supports Bluetooth 4.0 or higher, Operating Systems Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows RT 8.

i was wondering if i can configure and pair this mouse with a laptop running on win7 SP1 x64 6.1.7601. it has an in-built bluetooth adapter :-
Dell Truemobile 355 Bluetooth + EDR, Manufacturer ID 15
Device Driver 6.1.7601.17514 (didn't install any additional stack or widcomm packages yet, so i guess this is my default os driver).

under device manager, I see 2 items under Bluetooth :-
Dell Truemobile 355 Bluetooth + EDR
    Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator

    ***

before we even go into drivers, i'm questioning these 2 considerations :-

    Supported Device
does my internal card support Bluetooth 4.0, and if not, will my system accept a newer card? i do not intend to use an external dongle, and this card is housed in an old 14×36×4mm form factor compartment (don't know what it's called, got the pic from Wikipedia).

however, i do have a spare WWAN slot i think, not sure if i can use it for a newer minicard there.

    Supported OS
no way i'm installing win8. providing i have a supported device, can win7 x64 use a mouse designed for win8 or up? if not, what is the windows component that is missing from win7, and can this be replicated by introducing specific software.

Try it and find out. No harm will come from it. I would keep a wired mouse connected in case your system does not recognize the BT mouse (no harm in having multiple mice connected either).

oh i forgot to mention sorry, i started the thread cos my system didn't detect the mouse. now i think about it, i think i did test it on a similar laptop a few months back, and that was installed with win10 pro x64- it failed to detect the mouse. that laptop was also using dell truemobile, and i believe of similar generation and type.

need to know if i have a chance to use it on a pc with win7 ultimate x64, before i consider getting a newer compatible Bluetooth card ... it does specifically say "Operating Systems Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows RT 8" on the box and datasheet. and if i cannot, is there any software i could introduce on my standard 7 ultimate to make it compatible.

You should visit their website and look for W7 drivers.

at this point i have default microsoft drivers for bluetooth from the win installation.
did you mean dell? i tried their latest drivers for this model of card. applying the dell version does not appear to superceed/modify the driver version number under device manager, so i think the os one is still the most applicable.

i might search around elsewhere/the net a bit if you think some special drivers would help.

I mean the mouse maker's site for that mouse.
