Dual Core Processor, only 1 core active

First and foremost thanks go out to anyone and everyone who can help me with this.

I've recently installed 7, clean install, not an upgrade. I have an Amd Athlon X2 3800+ installed and I installed 7 as a 64bit OS as well. I had this problem before 7 and could never solve it. The core doesn't show up in task manager and I've tried installing drivers from AMD, which say they are the incorrect version for the windows 7 Operating system so i installed them in compatibility mode which didn't seem to solve anything. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the processor and frankly I just don't know what to do! In Pc Wizard 2009, It tells me the number of cores is 2, but then only one core is enabled.

If anyone has any help for me that would be fantastic. Thank you! If you need any additional information please let me know.

Wow that was alot faster then I expected ^_^.

I attached the jpg. It shows one processor. I believe that my bios are up to date as I flashed them earlier this year if that is what you are suggesting. Unless i missed a link for a chipset update?

I'll try flashing my bios now...

A BIOS flash may be helpful, but perhaps not.

Run MSCONFIG. From the Boot tab, Advanced button, check the Number of Proceesor box. How many can you select? (If all's well, it's 2.)

Bob, he should be able to see 2, how ever in a normal config it s/b greyed out.
Still only 1 core is showing in device manager, I would perform a chipset driver update and see if it shows up.

In Msconfig it shows one selectable core. I've seemed to forgotten how to make a proper boot disc, I tried in nero burning rom and failed. I put AWFL855A.exe and W7093AMS.390 into an iso and burnt that to a disc and that didn't boot either.

I managed to realize how stupid I being and got my BIOS to flash properly to the newest version. That solved my problem with the dual core, now it seems I have another problem. After playing call of duty modern warfare 2 for 10 minutes or so the screen will freeze and sound will skip. Alt F4, Ctrl w, and Ctrl Alt Del don't have any affect. My card is not over clocked so I'm wondering if it's a setting in bios I have to change or something along those lines. Thanks again
