Help accessing external hard drive

    Attempting to run seatools and it just hangs on "USB Scanning for supported drives" and then goes to "Not Responding"

    Shut down your machine. Plug out the faulty USB drive. Switch on your PC again and boot it. Plug in only your faulty drive. Run Seatools. Check whether it recognises your drive now. It may take sometime to recognise your USB drive.

    If it is not responding even after a considerable wait or says not responding, in all probability your drive has gone bad.

    Download SeaTools for DOS, burn it to a CD, boot from the CD and try to run the tests. If that also fails, only professional data recovery is the answer. Seagate has their own data recovery partners. Google Seagate Data recovery partners.
