Yes, i do agree with Megahertz07 for SSD, as it take less than a minute to boot.
Even website appear fast, i am on 500Mbps plan.
USB 3 enclosure, but have to buy the HDD &or SSD separately.
Alternately, get the External HDD.
If you do not carry the HDD, than get the 3.5" as it is cheaper than 2.5" HDD.

I have a lot of HDD and enclosure.

For cooling pad with 2 fans, just ensure it fit to your laptop size, and maybe slightly bigger.

I do not know your country pricing.
As for the pricing, 1 TB 2.5" HDD External is about S$100.
As for 3 TB 3.5" HDD External is about S$150.

Another option for laptop cooling - Targus X-stand:
(There are other sources, such as Newegg.)

It does not pull USB power, is fully adjustable and collapsible, and is VERY robust (I have used the same one through 3 laptops).
It allows (passive) venting of hot air from the underside/battery and it also makes typing a bit more ergonomic.
