USB storage drivers not installing, error 10 in DM

I've rebuilt a Win 7 box (new mobo, etc, and used Paragon with existing disk)... and all works well, except it won't install driver software for USB storage (SanDisk cruzer, generic smartcard adapter, or external USB 3 Dell SSD.)

It always gives me a driver not installed error, and the device shows up in DM with a yellow exclamation mark and Error 10.

I've tried different ports, cleaning the error with Driver Booster (says successful but driver still doesn't install), removed registry keys with "SanDisk" in them, updated all drivers, etc. I'm at out of ideas.

I can also move a USB mouse to the other USB ports, and the driver will install and work fine. It seems to be limited to any type of USB storage device.

    Any help?

As I understood, you can boot on the cloned disk but you don't have USB? Is anything else on DM that needs a driver?
What is the brand and model of your new MB? Is it an Intel or AMD?
    What chipset does it have?

MB is Asus P8Z777-V PRO Thunderbolt. All drivers are up to date.

Everything is working normally, except Windows won't properly install a driver for any USB storage device. I've used DriveCleanup (USB drive or flash problems? How to cleanup and remove old USB storage drivers - TechSpot Forums) and also cleaned all unplugged devices with Driver Booster several times.

When I plug in any USB storage device (to any port) after doing that ^, windows tries to install the driver but says it didn't install. DM then shows the device with error 10 failed to start. Attempting to then update the driver results in windows saying the best driver is already installed.

The PC will boot to a USB device with no issues. It's only the OS that can't properly install a driver and start it.

Is your BIOS up to date?
Download USB drivers (ASmedia and Intel) from here
    https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8...Desk_Download/

    Run the installer and reboot

Yes...BIOS is updated. All Asus drivers have been updated and verified.

I've also deleted all USB hubs and let Windows rediscover and install them...no problems with that, but still won't install drivers for any USB storage device. Everything else is working normally.

    Fixed.

For future reference, the problem was Samsung Magician.

I was setting up this PC with a mechanical test drive that was cloned from a SSD, which had Samsung Magician installed. Even though it had been disabled, Windows was trying to assign a Samsung RAPID driver to any USB drive that was plugged in.

After uninstalling Magician and cleaning all related files and registry keys, USB drives now mount with no issues.

Good news. I also have a Samsung SSD and found out that Magician is more part of the problem than the solution.

Actually, it's only partially fixed. I can read USB drives from the USB 2 ports now, but still can't get two of the USB 3 ports on the mobo to read them (and I get the same error).

Now I remember why I got away from putting these infernal things together. :)

Read this post File transfers through USB 3.0 keep disconnecting
Some problems are related to allow Legacy USB on BIOS.
