    Bios issue

Hello I have a acer aspire r1600 and I got a wireless keyboard that has a power button. So I would like to turn my computer on from the key board but under my bios it doesn't have the power on by keyboard . I read somewhere that the dingle has to be in the USB port closes to the motherboard. Advice.

Power on by keyboard / and or mouse is normally under Power Management on BIOS.

It should be working. To find out if it is a problem with your computer or with your keyboard, place a mouse directly to your computer to see if it starts your computer.
Edit: See your MB manual. Some wake up events on mouse or keyboard must be associate with a specific action. On mouse some MB require to right click. On Keyboard it's the Enter key.

Unless you have power to your USB port where the wireless dongle is plugged in at, when the computer is powered down, there is no way for the keyboard to communicate with the computer!

Carputer, is your USB keyboard receiver connected to the back plate USB port on the side of the PS2 connector?

Is your computer a desktop or laptop?
Even new desktop MB has a PS2 mouse / keyboard connector. I'm not talking about the very old, round and big DIN connector. I'm talking about the small and round, green PS2 connector at the back of the computer. My MB has one and on it's side there are two USB connectors to connect mouse and/or keyboard.
Did you read the MB manual to find if the Wake up mentioned on BIOS is from a sleeping or shut ed?
