Hey there im pretty positive this guy on the other forum is right. He posted a lot on the dell xps forum there especially about this laptop. But do you know how long is the process to do that transfer?
Yes all he did was replace my 1tb with the 250gb ssd. When he did this, i asked him could he wiped my 250gb ssd since it showed 115gb available out of 232gb and he did with disk management where it is 230gb out of 232gb free etc. So he didn't transfer or clean install. Thats why i was confused a bit when he said thats all so i didn't ask him about clean install etc.
But did he know that my windows shouldnt be on the C drive though like the person from the other forum mentioned? Thats what i thought as well. Even if i tell him i want to swap hard drives, isn't it common sense that there should not be 1 reason it should be like this? Thus he didn't mention if i keep it like this, then you only have like 2gb that you can use and you cant use the 250gb ssd etc. I mean if i was a computer repair person and someone else told me they wanted to do so and so and then i know their computer would be left like this, i would say well you can't keep it like this because you have no space on your computer. Is there a chance that he didn't know or forgot about it somehow? I mean he knew windows 10 was on the 32gb obviously otherwise windows wont boot. So that makes no sense. Thus if i was repair shop person and doing this, i would refuse to set the computer up like this because your computer is going to be unusable.
I just want my laptop set up correctly. The other person on the other forum ask me to even ask my money back which obviously i wouldn't do and i think is ridiculous.
But why didn't he recommend or tell me but i have to put windows on the 250gb first before i was leaving? Do you know by any chance how long something like that takes? So now i have to bring it back there, does he need to open up my laptop? Or can he just do it like that? And most importantly, do you recommend windows clean install or image/cloning? Does one generally cost more than the other?
I also like to add that i paid $20 to get my hard drive switched with the ssd and having the ssd wiped which was pretty cheap. Im assuming the copying will cost much more based on this?
So does that mean if the 1tb hard drive did not have windows 10 on it, then i have the same issue now no matter what? Im asking the other person on the forum to see if he had windows 10 installed on the 1tb hard drive as well but i have a feeling he will say its only on the 32gb ssd.
I will check back this thread in the morning. Im very tired now and its very late already. This has kept me up all night and i can't even sleep because of this. I do appreciate everyone of you guys for helping me out on this issue very much. I will post back what the other guy on the other forum posted on those questions i asked him soon early tomorrow.
