See if you can find good deals on FSP power supplies. EVGA just rebrands their power supplies.
So does Cooler Master, Corsair, Gigabyte, Thermaltake, Antec and quite a few others, but it isn't quite that simple. The PSUs may be made by the same companies, but they are made according to the end seller's specs. There can be a big difference in a PSU made by the same manufacturer and sold by different end sellers.

    Super Flower makes EVGA PSUs.

Yes Steve reading through the specs it is quite obvious in some of them and I think they put in Japanese caps as just a selling point sometimes I like to see what is inside when they show them because some things like heatsink size is vastly different.

Yes Japanese caps are a selling point and for a good reason.
Japanese capacitors I known to be high quality.

I have two power supplies in use now.
    Both are Corsair.
    AX-850 made by Seasonic
    AX-860i made by Flextronics.

Without proof otherwise, I'm presuming they are made to Corsairs specs as requested by Corsair.
Their are few power supply manufactures and a boat load of Retail selling names.

Like most things in electronics, their are few companies that make them and lots of selling brand names. Kind of like Sears. They made nothing but had everything made to their specs.
Asus doesn't make everything on their motherboards but as a unit it's sold as a Asus motherboard. Everything on their branded motherboard meet Asus specs, who ever makes them.

So what do we do as end users. Well it's simple for me. I go by brand name and the reputation that brand has. I also consider the stated warranty and how the company treated customers that had to RMA their products.

I seldom have a RMA but through the years I have had to use RMA with Asus, Corsair, G-Skill and Intel.
The only company I had any problems with RMA was G-Skill. G-Skill RMA isn't worth the C-4 it takes to blow a dogs nose. My opinion from my experience.

The other companies I had no problems with. When I pay top dollar for top brands I surly consider the quality of their RAM. One never know with computer hardware when something might go belly up.

    Jack

    PS.
I think a bad power supply cause my Intel SSD to die but I can't prove it.
Intel had me a new SSD in a week. What did it cost Intel? I don't know but because of their RMA policies I ended up buying 4 more Intel SSD's. I pay more and I expect more.

Update am really wondering what PSU I should get now as they have risen so far in price since I last bought these two - Corsair HX 1020 and a Corsair HX 650 - just about 50% more than I paid then and I came across this one XFX XTR Series Gold 850W Modular Power Supply at a reasonable $179 + shipping.
Now a little research via the Whirlpool makers list shows it to be made by Seasonic but what I would like to know is - has anyone used this brand before and what did they think of it.

The site I saw it on is one of my usual suppliers sites that I trust so not some shonky store -

I'm in the process of upgrading my recording studio system. Just ordered an ASRock Z170 Extreme 6+ motherboard and a 6700K, new DDR4 memory and Corsair liquid cooler, and EVGA 750 watt modular power supply. Keeping my less than 1 year old BeQuiet 600 case, Samsung SSD's and optical drives.
