    continuous beeping sony vaio

hi guys may i thank you in advance because you have always come up with a result which is why i always pass the word on, thanks very much..my laptop running win7 was running ok then all of a sudden it has a continuous beeping. i have tried it loads of times hitting f12, f8 all different keys at start up but once and only once by pressing the f12 i managed to get it to boot but that hasnt happened for ages. when it starts with the beeping it shows the name of something on the screen, not sony or anything, but i cant get it into bios or any advanced menu. somebody did tell me it beeps like that when theres no keyboard attached but i checked that and it was ok. i have a clean hard drive so if i can boot it somehow and run a win7 disc at start up and install a fresh copy i would be happy this that......model is a sony vaio PCGmany thanks for your time guys....jim

    Your explanation is confusing.
Did you changed the ram after the problem or before?
It began beeping when running or on when starting?
Do you hear the cooling fan?
When it beeps, did appears any image on the screen?
Explain "i have a clean hard drive". Is it a spare drive or the laptop drive?

Is there a pattern to the beeps? Maybe one long beep followed two short. Your computer may be having a hardware issue. Read this article to help figure it out. You can also try searching Google for "BIOS beep codes".

    What beep code is it?

Here is a list of Sony beep codes:

Can you boot into safe mode?

from your description sounds like you have a stuck key on the keyboard. to test you could take keyboard out and use an external keyboard.

My guess would be a memory error. If two or more sticks, I would power down, unplug from the wall, touch bare metal of the case interior to discharge static in your body, then carefully remove all but one stick, connect power, boot and see what happens. Following the same static control procedure, swap sticks until you [hopefully] find the bad one.
