Check removed from registry as well once uninstalled in regedit
Edit for your windows version

Drivers
Also stop the print spooler and restart the service
Reboot
Install driver again, check for newer version for your OS on manufactures web site
If all fails try HP Laserjet 4 drivers instead for a test

I wonder if that may be part/all of the problem.
HP added DRM to its cartridges.
Its printer firmware will not recognize non-HP cartridges.
If you removed a cartridge, refilled it and then replaced it, the printer may not be recognizing the replaced cartridge as genuine.
If you Google "HP printers will not accept after-market cartridges", you will find many articles about this.
To test if this might be the case, what happens when you install a brand-new (not refilled or recycled), legitimate (HP brand, not third-party or after-market) HP ink cartridge?
I would also check for firmware updates for the printer at the HP drivers and downloads page.
HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More | HP(R) Customer Support (that is the US site -- I presume there is an equivalent one in your country)

HP catridge is more expensive than the hardware repair the new catridge is Pakistan rupees 5,000/= where as the hardware repair program suggested by computert shop can cost me any where from rs 1,500/= to 3,500/= in pakistan rupees depending upon the hardware problem
i have refilled this catridge multiple times and after the last refill it printed fine for few days and then the problem appeared
also the local computer shop tested the cartridge in their printer and it printed fine

I have had in the passed this dumping as well called it, black page. this was caused my non genuine cartridges with Brother and Epson I can not say HP as I have done little HP work to be honest

Easy way is to:
START
In search type "regedit" no quotes
Click on computer at the top
Click file
Click find
Add the key work HP
Search and see what pops up
be extremely careful
if its the HP printer giving the model number i.e.
as I just checked -- com.epson.pos.driver.InkInfo
This is set to default.. all good
You can then find next and wade through
Check by right clicking the right hand pane enrtys and modify to see the settings
*** CAUTION if you do not understand or know what your doing, do your home work first as you can easy kill a computer with wild regedits ***
if it was me, i would look for the printer name and model and delete the entrys at root
Re-installation will replace as required and be clean entrys per defaults install from CD - Drivers erc

Hi:
Sorry.
But HP (and I think other manufacturers) have been trying to restrict customers to use only their own, branded, new cartridges. (That is how they make their money, not from the printer itself.)
I understand why someone would want to re-use ink cartridges or to substitute cheaper ones.
But AFAIK HP has engineered their printers and their cartridges to prevent that.
I'm pretty sure even a genuine HP cartridge that has been removed and replaced in the same printer will be seen as such.
(And just because it may have worked once does not mean that it will work repeatedly over time.)
In order to troubleshoot, I suggest purchasing ONE legitimate, fresh, new HP brand cartridge and trying that.
If it works, then it would help to confirm suspicion that it is the "reused" cartridge contributing to or causing the problem.
If it does not work, then it would suggest that you have a problem with the printer itself.
Additionally: even if the refilling itself were not an issue from a DRM standpoint, there is probably a limit to the number of times that will work. At some point, the cartridge will fail. They are NOT designed for refilling and multiple reuse many, many times or for moving from one printer to another.
That's all I have to suggest.
If you want to try hacks or other workarounds, that's certainly up to you.:)
