Ongoing mystery of Jumping Mouse

A cursor that leaps about when i'm typing is driving me nuts. I use CTRL Z as often as the letter e!
One moment I'm making a detailed reply to an email/ Word.doc then without warning I'm into the text of the sender and my typing is obliterating their text. Back to CTRL Z.

Frankly I don't expect an answer as it appears MS have done a Pontious Pilate over this question.
But I need to express my frustration and hear from some fellow suffers.

Yes I've got Touchfreeze installed
Yes, I've done all the settings in Control Panel/Mouse
Yes, I've read a zillion posts in various places about this problem
No I haven't totally despaired of a solution as every problem has one.
However, few solutions are as hard to discover as that to solve the shifting cursor.


Share your frustration - who knows, it may help us feel a little better (fingers crossed).

Why are you blaming Microsoft over an obvious hardware issue?

The most common cause (by far!) for this when using notebooks is the user accidently (and unknowingly) brushing the touch pad while typing with their lazy thumb!

There is no industry standard but on my Toshiba notebook, Fn+F9 disables/enables the touchpad. I recommend you disable it, then connect a real mouse and see if the problem occurs.

You should also make sure your notebook and mouse drivers are updated and that you have scanned for malware.

There is nothing to do with MS, as @Itaregid mentioned.

Why do you need to have this Touchfreeze

Already Toshiba have several tools, including in the taskbar.

You can press on and press off, as it alternately between on and off for the touchpad.

Having 3 different models of Toshiba laptops, all the keyboard, touchpad, are exactly the same.

Not my Toshiba Satellite A505. You have to use the FN+F-key combo I mentioned before. But that is a simple task and the F-key (F9 in my case) is clearly marked with a mouse and a circled mouse with a line through it icons to show the key's function.

We had loads of problems with touch and cursers jumping, scatting etc

turned out the touch pad fixing was loose - so disabled and use USB mouse
