Windows 7: How to use my password protected sata hdd with data externally?

Windows 10 Pro x64 x3, Ubuntu

Here in the UK we had a spate of laptops accidentally being left on trains, in hotel rooms etc, unfortunately these were those issued to Government Ministers, and their support staff. I'm sure it's not just UK politicians that are this careless

This became a major issue and I believe that some manufacturers added encryption options into their products, built into the hardware to prevent the simple workaround of removing the HDD from the device to access the data. You can buy HDDs in the open market with built in hardware encryption so it is becoming more normal than it was when only specialist devices were available with this functionality
