    error code from windows update

    Fellow code crunchers,

Every once and a while I will have a download waiting from HP in Windows update. I will try and download it, but it always fails. I have a HP Laser Jet 600 M601 and I believe that's what the download states it is for. Below is the error message I keep getting every time I try and download it.

    HP Inc. - Other hardware, Printer - HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M601, M602 & M603 printer series (DOT4PAR)
    Installation date: ‎12/‎14/‎2016 7:15 AM
    Installation status: Failed
    Error details: Code 800F020B
    Update type: Optional
HP Inc. Other hardware, Printer software update released in May, 2013

I am not too distressed about this, but I am curious to know what is happening.

Thanks for your answer in advance.

    John

Error details: Code 800F020B. This apparently indicates that the device does not exist. So the update may not be applicable to your printer.

If you are not distressed about it & your printer is working well, it might be best to just hide the update, so you don't keep getting the update, & forget about it.

If you really want the update it's always best to get updates directly from the manufacturer, so go to their website & check for any updates that are applicable to particular model printer.

The driver you have on your PC is newer then the driver windows is offering, it doesn`t make sense and not worth worrying about, I get a similar update for my HP Laserjet 1150.

As Ranger says, hide the update and forget about it.

Thanks for the responses. I will take your advise and blank the update and forget it. My printer works as it should and that's not all bad.

    Thanks again,
