Printer not working
I recently installed my HP Photosmart C4599 printer on my HP dv7 laptop running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium and for some reason I cannot get it to work. After getting Windows 7 it took me a few days to install my printer. I've had Windows 7 for exactly two weeks now and I'd say that I first installed the printer about a week ago. Two nights ago, however, when I went to print something it was not showing up as one of my printer options. I was confused, since this printer does have Windows 7 compatible software available direct from HP and since I fully installed it with all of their bs apps. After going into device manager and troubleshooting my computer it came back saying that the printer was not enabled and did not have an updated driver. So I decided to completely uninstall and reinstall everything that had to do with the printer. After a successful re-installation AND test print I thought my problems were solved. So fast forward to tonight and once again the printer did not show up as one of my printer options when I went to print a document. After troubleshooting I got the same message which reads: "The drivers for this device are not installed". I decided this time to press the "update driver" button on device manager to no avail. I'm sure the driver was installed with the printer software since it's mandatory as part of the install. I have three printers in my house (including this one) and since the others are rather old, this is the only that will work with my computer. I'm basically stuck without a printer until I get this problem resolved. This printer is fairly new (only 8 or 9 months old) so I know it should be compatible with this OS but for some reason it's just not taking.
Both HP and Microsoft support are useless and generally make the problem worse while taking years off of my life due to the stress talking to them causes. I would try to fix this myself but I can't find any insight into what is causing this anywhere on the sites I know.
PLEASE HELP
