How to get rid of "Scan and fix" message on a removable USB disk?

I have four removable disks (USB) but one of them, EVERY time I plug it into the USB Windows shows a pop up asking if I want to "scan and fix the disk" or "continue without check".

I always click "continue without check" because I sincerely doesn't rely on Windows and imagine that the fix can instead to screw my disk.

How can I get rid of this message? Is safe to allow Windows to scan and fix my unit?

    Thanks!

If it's asking to scan it's detecting a problem the only fix is to scan or you could face data loss

    I agree with Samuria.
Flash USB disk are usually formatted as Fat32 that are more sensitive to errors.
Run a check disk. Open a CMD window and type chkdsk x: /f where x is the letter assign to the flash disk

It's not a Flash USB disk. It's a 500GB HD. My concern is that allowing Windows to "fix" the errors it just mess up the whole crap. That's why I am asking it...

The advise is the same: Run a check disk. Open a CMD window and type chkdsk x: /f where x is the letter assign to the USB HDD.

Do you have a backup of the data folders and files elsewhere before you attempt any scans and fixes?

Well, due to the STRONG CERTAIN that the other guys tells me to go ahead with the fix I thought that it wouldn't be necessary. But now that you are mentioning it I can see that I am correct to assume that Windows may crap things.

I see. Well it is giving this error for a long time and I didn't lose anything from it. It's more an annoying thing than anything else. This is a disk that I use to backup clients data when I am formatting/reinstalling Windows plus a software library. Nothing too fancy, and I have a copy of the software in another brick. Thanks for clarification.
