500GB HD took space from 1TB HD after cloning-please help reverse

Hello all.

New here.

I have a desktop computer (custom build) with the OS on a 500GB Seagate HD.
The computer also has a 1TB Seagate HD for storage.

For the last 2 weeks the 500GB HD started making a clicking sound after the computer would run for a couple of hours. Then it would hang and finally a blue screen appeared. (More on this later).

I was informed that the hard drive was faulty and needed to be replaced.
My intention at this stage was to reinstall the OS onto the 1TB HD. So firstly I cloned the 500GB HD onto the 1TB HD.

This is my problem: After the clone, Disk 0 (the 500GB HD) took 500GB from Disk 1 (the 1TB HD) and now Disk 0 appears as a 1TB HD and Disk 1 appears only as a 500GB HD. The 500GB allocated to Disk 0 appears as a New Volume. See attached picture.

I reformatted the New Volume and tried to move it, but obviously don't know how to. I read many forums on the internet, but until now have not come across a similar issue that's helpful.
I understand when one clones a hard drive the process involves using the same amount of space as the HD being cloned.

Drive C: is meant to be the 500GB HD.
Drive F: is the New Volume drive (500GB) taken from Drive G:
Drive G: is the storage drive showing 500GB which should show as 1TB.

Is anyone able to help me resolve this problem, please?
I want Disk 0 to only be a 500GB drive and Disk 1 to be a 1TB drive - as was initially.
(To move or allocate Drive F: to Drive G.

So while i was trying to figure out this issue, I began deleting a number of unused software packages on the OS HD (Disk 0). And this seems to have resolved the initial OS HD problem. Now I don't hear any clicking sound, the computer does not hang and no blue screen appears. In fact, the HD seems to be working perfectly.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1.

Many thanks and warm regards, in advance.

I think you're missing a basic concept re: cloning, Wonderbee.

Disks 0 and 1 do not refer to the same physical disks as before. The designation "Disk 0" merely refers to whichever disk you are booting from, and the extra, non-booted disk is "Disk 1". Before the cloning, you were booting from the Seagate 500, so that one showed up as "Disk 0" and the extra disk (the 1TB disk) was designated "Disk 1". After the cloning you are now booting from the 1TB disk, so that now shows up as "Disk 0" and the Seagate 500 is now "Disk 1".

If you want to prove that to yourself, you can power down, temporarily disconnect the Seagate 500, then boot back up. I think you'll find "Disk 1" disappears from Disk Management and "Disk 0" will still be exactly like your screenshot--with the "Win7" and "New Volume" (C and F) partitions, but no E or G. That should convince you that "Disk 0" is now the 1TB Seagate.

Incidentally, that's also why you're no longer getting BSODs or clicking; it has nothing to do with "deleting a number of unused software packages" (which you actually deleted from the clone, BTW, not the original OS on the Seagate 500). The clicking and hanging was when you were booting from the Seagate 500, but now you're booting from the clone on the 1TB disk, and that disk isn't hanging.

You don't clone a faulty drive as it can copy faults. Go to makers site of the disk and download test software for the drive to ensure its ok

Thank you, Samuria.

I ran all the tests with Sea Tools, except the long test, and all shows as passed.

CheckDisk also shows that Windows has found no problems.

I now will run the long test.
