    Mouse Woes

    Greetings all!

I have one of these puppies and, after almost three years, the middle mouse click stopped working out of the blue. I can still scroll with the wheel just fine, but clicking doesn't work.

However, I don't think it's purely a hardware issue, and that's because plugging the mouse into different USB ports results in the mouse not working at all.

Tried to update the (Windows default) driver to no avail. All other mouse functions seem to be nominal.

Any ideas on what's going on here? Help is much appreciated, so thanks in advance.

Run a system file check. On a CMD window type sfc /scannow.

See if there is a button configuration - Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Mouse

No integrity violations with scannow. No button configuration issues.

In mouse properties under the buttons tab, all dropdowns are grayed out and it says there is no Microsoft mouse detected. The plot thickens!

Fixed it. It seems that Intellipoint 8.2 was installed. Research indicated that versions prior to 8 were better for my kind of mouse, so I installed 7.0 and it works like a charm.

    Thanks for the help!
